Picôto

Framework

Picôto covers 0.82 hectares and is located close to the A25 (40°40′ 56,56”N; 8°10′ 18,69”W), in União de Freguesias de Cambra e Carvalhal de Vermilhas, in Vouzela county, Viseu district. The management of the land results from a management protocol made with Mrs. Rosa Maria Trindade, individually, with a duration of 10 years, starting in April 2020 and ending in the same month of 2030.

The property is located between the quotas at 460 to 470 m. The property burned down in October 2017.

The property’s soil alternates between granite outcrops and soils with apparently some depth and good moisture retention capacity. There is a water line that crosses the property from east to south, of a seasonal nature.

Management model

MONTIS ‘approach is aimed at strengthening natural processes, with the aim of enhancing renaturalization and increasing biodiversity. It is intended to make the managed properties more resilient to disturbances, namely to fire.
