MONTIS is a nature conservation NGO that operates in Portugal, founded in 2014. The main goal of MONTIS is to manage abandoned marginal land, with low or no economic value, with an ecosystem restoration approach, to recover ecosystem functionality and support increasing biodiversity.

In 2023 MONTIS will host an International Workcamp in Pampilhosa da Serra, a program of youth Workcamps with the goal of bringing together young people from different nationalities, cultures and contexts with the common objective of contributing to the increase of biodiversity, to the restoration of degraded ecosystems and the increase of the landscape’s fire resilience.

It is expected, with the joint volunteering tasks, which include individual and collective tasks, fauna workshops and leisure activities, to stimulate cultural, linguistic learning and intercultural interaction among the community of participants.

When? The workcamp will take place from the 18th to the 27th of August 2023.

Where? The conservation works will take place in an area managed by MONTIS in the interior of Portugal, in Pampilhosa da Serra. The area where the tasks will be carried out, is an ecologically degraded and sensitive area. The location of the workcamp is in a remote rural area, with almost no population. MONTIS will have a van and cars available to support the needed transportation.

Volunteers will be camping, free of charge. MONTIS will provide regular meals, with the possibility of vegetarian by request. These include breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. Lunch will be served on the field as packed lunch.

How can I apply? There will be 12 internacional volunteers working, between 18 and 30 years old, but just two spots are available. For registration, see below.

In Scope/Partnership with IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude) and LIFE ENPLC.
